These little Vanilla Sugar Pots will make a great Christmas gift, and are so easy to make. The addition of vanilla to the sugar not only lends a beautiful aroma, but makes your recipes feel just that much more decadent.

To make these all you need is:

  • Vanilla Beans
  • Extra fine sugar
  • Small glass jars
  • Twine
  • Labels

The jars you need will have to be air-tight. The lids should have the plastic stoppers on the bottom, like most scented candles (the jars in the photo came from Ikea). But let’s get to making them up.

Wash the jars and lids, and allow to dry completely. Fill them nearly full with your sugar.

Take the vanilla beans and cut into 4 pieces using a pair of scissors. Place 2 of the pieces into each jar, so that they are standing up in the sugar.

Put the lids on all the jars, then take the twine and use it to secure the labels to the jars.

That’s it! How easy was that?

Also, don’t forget to tell your giftees not to throw away the vanilla pods. Just top up the pot with sugar every time you run out and you’ll have vanilla sugar all year round!
