Ingredients

  • 1 ½ lbLean ground turkey (Refer notes)
  • ½ CupOnion, chopped
  • 1 ½ CupCarrot, chopped
  • 1 ½ CupCabbage, chopped
  • 1 ½ CupCelery, chopped
  • 2 TablespoonGinger, minced
  • 4 TablespoonGarlic, minced
  • 1 TspFresh Thyme, minced
  • 1 TspFresh Oregano, minced
  • 4Green chilly
  • 2 TablespoonWorcestershire sauce
  • 1 TablespoonKetchup
  • Salt and Pepper to taste
  • Oil
  • 6Big potatoes, boiled and mashed
  • 3/4 CupMilk
  • 1 ½ CupGrated cheese, divided (I used Havarti, Parmigiano Reggiano and Sharp Cheddar)
  • Salt

Directions

  1. For vegetables
  2. Heat some oil in a saute pan and add onions followed by 1 tablespoon ginger, 1 tablespoon garlic and chopped green chilly
  3. Add the carrots, celery, cabbage and saute for a few mins.
  4. Season with salt and pepper
  5. Take off the heat and keep aside
  6. For meat
  7. Heat some oil in a saute pan and add 1 tablespoon ginger, 3 tablespoon garlic
  8. Add the ground turkey or any meat of your choice
  9. Mix in Worcestershire sauce and Ketchup
  10. Add thyme and oregano and season with salt and pepper
  11. Take off the heat and keep aside
  12. When the meat is cooked, add the sauteed vegetables and mix everything together. Take off the heat and keep aside
  13. For mashed potatoes
  14. Pressure cook the potatoes and peal and mash them
  15. In a non stick sauce pan add the mashed potatoes and milk and 1 cup cheese
  16. As soon as the cheese melts take it off the heat
  17. Assembly
  18. Add the meat and vegetable mixture at the bottom of the pan
  19. Top it with mashed potatoes
  20. Add 1/2 cup of cheese as garnish
  21. Bake in the oven at 400 degree oven until bubbling and brown (about 30 minutes). Broil for last few minutes if necessary to brown.
